Community Service at UIC

Over the past few months I have been volunteering at UI Health. Over the course of a couple months I have volunteered in the Outpatient Pediatrics, University Health Services, and the Volunteer Service Office. I really enjoy my time at the hospital since I want to purse a career in the healthcare field. I think I learned a lot from volunteering at the hospital and you can read what I have done so far down below.

Outpatient Pediatrics: At the Outpatient Pediatrics I made phone calls to patients about appointments and read to the children in the waiting room. This was a great experience, since I have been thinking about going into nursing for babies.

University Health services: At the University health services office they are trying to move from paper to digital. I helped move patients information from paper to a spread sheet. This helped me with typing skills and just helped be understand google sheets a lot better since I don't have much experience with spreadsheets.

Volunteer Services office: At the volunteer services office I helped with creating folders for patients with information they need. I also helped with decorating the office for different events and holidays. I also helped with paperwork and other small tasks.
