the heart that grew flowers: 24 hour project
At GCE, Endurance is a class that investigates ideas of heroism and self-growth through historical figures and events. In the class Endurance, We studied Shackleton, an Irish Explorer, and Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor in the book Night. During the Endurance class, we studied what it meant to be a hero, and the obstacles that come with pursuing a challenge or a journey. To further our understanding of self growth from experiencing difficulty, seniors were asked to complete a twenty-four hour project. This could be a new skill, fitness related, or learning more about a topic. I chose to put my artistic skills to the test and create a painting. During this project, I completed a lot of self reflection. I learned that my determination is stronger than I had ever thought, and that my artistic abilities have improved from being around artists and dedicating myself to learn about the craft. I hope you to continue these skills by creating art more in my everyday life, and I’m so happy I got to use this project to further my skills to do so. Check out my video of my experience below.
